We strive to provide programs and outings that help you paddle safely and be surrounded by beautiful, scenic spaces. Whether enjoying a kayaker's river perspective in downtown Saranac Lake, or a canoeist's adventure in Maine's remote wilderness, the Northern Forest Canoe Trail has a variety of settings for you to experience.
NFCT Paddler Series
Free, guided day trips led by our staff and volunteers provide you with an intimate 4-6 hour tour of an NFCT lake or river. Bring your canoe or kayak, paddling gear, and food and we will share our knowledge of the local ecology, history, and as well as paddling skills advice. See trips for this spring and summer at NFCT Paddler Series - Free Guided Trips.
Northern Forest Explorers
Our youth program takes kids ages 10-14 on 5-day paddling adventures alogn our route. We work with local guides who provide boats, instruction, camping and paddling gear, and years of experience in the region. See our 2016 schedule at Northern Forest Explorers.
Waterway Work Trips
Volunteers provide tremendous support on stewardship projects such as building a new lean-to, constructing a stone staircase, or installing NFCT trail markers. Our service weekends enable us to focus on projects by teaming up our summer interns with volunteers. The results are always spectacular, and the river or lakeside locations aren't too shabby either. See a list of this summer's projects at NFCT Waterway Work Trips.
